Flying Disco: Let’s Meet Under the Moon
Flying Disco is a dynamic, reusable meeting point designed as a space to dream
under the moon we all share. With a vibrant interplay of light and textile, it not only offers a place for gathering but also transforms into a stage where visitors become part of the
experience. Conceived as an ephemeral installation, Flying Disco embodies circular design—crafted for easy assembly and disassembly, ensuring minimal waste and maximum adaptability by utilizing Fritz-Kola crates and other reusable materials. The project’s design research explores the values and aesthetics that define this collaboration between Fritz-Kola and the Horst Arts & Music Festival, incorporating studies on color tendencies to create a truly immersive, dreamlike space.
At its heart, a glowing moon-like balloon floats above, a shared light guiding
festival-goers and locals to gather beneath its gentle glow. More than just an installation,
it becomes a beacon of dreams, a place where connections spark and the night
unfolds in a dance of light and shadows. Prioritizing sustainability, Flying Disco integrates reclaimed materials, modular construction, and innovative
methods to reduce environmental impact. More than just a festival structure, it
contributes to Asiat Park’s transformation into a lively, inclusive public space—where
people come together under the moon to eimagine the night and the city around
them.
